The demand for personal protective equipment (PPE) has been at an all time high and since the revised Emergency Use Authorization announced by the FDA on April 3, 2020 adding China’s KN95 eligible for import; many businesses have attempted to cease the moment.
However, the optimism for those who chose to import overseas in hopes of a quick contribution to meet the demand was short lived when China’s new measure Announcement 53 was implemented on April 10, 2020. This measure is set in place in hopes of preventing poor quality goods from being imported. All medical materials or medical supplies under HS Code 6307900010 umbrella are subject to the testing and review at customs to ensure they are meeting the Import and Export Commodity Inspection Law of the People’s Republic of China.
A combination of high demand and China’s Announcement 53 results in the potential of extreme delays of precious cargo so desperately needed around the world.
